with a left over-grip and a right under-grip ( see video ). Then extend the
weapon with your right arm ( arm parallel to stick ). The left hand stops close

Most
pudao

executed
at head height and the left leg is raised like shown here. This is the most
basic pudao stab, but of course there are also other stab variations at different

Head Elbow Whip Turn
Head Elbow Whip - Wushu Jiujiebian
This video shows how to do a head elbow whip. This is a whip chain technique
where you first wind your whip around your head and then around your elbow
and turn. The trick is that you move your right hand ( with the handle of the
whip ) around your head, to wrap the chain back down your neck before you wind
it around your elbow. If you don't do this, you get stuck and the whip probably
hits your head. Because this technique requires quite a lot of
timing, I recommend you practice this with a cord and a tennis ball first.

Whip Throw - Wushu Jiujiebian
Whip Throw- Wushu Jiujiebian
This video shows how to do a whip throw with a wushu jiujiebian. Start from
an empty front circle on the right side and swing your whip chain forward down.
Make sure you swing your whip in a vertical layer. Release the handle shortly
before the chain reaches the highest point when you swing it backwards up.
Let your whip rotate 360° in the air and catch the handle when it comes back
down.
It doesn't matter if you catch the 2nd or 3rd section instead of the handle
at the beginning, because you can correct your grip during the next few empty
circles.

Shoulder Neck Twine - Wushu Whip Chain
Shoulder Neck Twine - Wushu Whip Chain
This video shows how to do a shoulder neck twine with a wushu whip chain.
Start from an empty circle on the right side of your body and swing your whip
chain
forward down under your right shoulder. Then let to top of your chain pass
on the left side of your head, but turn to the right, before the chain can
fall on your left shoulder. Turn your body with the speed of the whip chain
and turn around
( to the right ) so that the whip swings away from your back ( see video ).
This is quite difficult at the beginning. I recommend when you first try this
skill,
you
use a cord
with a tennis ball attached to it instead of a steel whip. The risk that you
hit your own face when you turn to the right is quite high ( difficult timing
).
