Search for: backhandspring - Results 1-1 of 1 for ' backhandspring ' (0 seconds)
In this video instruction you will learn how to spot a wushu back handspring. This spotting technique is good if you have a student who is too heavy to spot him alone. However, the 1-Person-back-handspring-spotting-technique is better.

Hold your students pants like shown in the video above. His pants should be long, tight and of course pretty strong. At the beginning you should try this on mats. The students should be able to hald the handstand for a few seconds and stretch the bridge before he tries this.

So help your student bend back into a bridge. At the beginning a 3rd person might help planting the hands correctly. You don't wanna injure his wrists! Then lift his legs and an bring him into a handstand position.
The rest comes from alone.

The advantage of this spotting technique is that you can spot a very heavy person. However, be careful spotting somebody who has bad back or shoulder flexibility ( he might injure his wrists).

The disadvantages are that you get used to short back handsprings like they are done in wushu and that the lower back is stressed more than with the 1-person spotting technique.

Keep it safe, use mats, warm up and don't play around.
Find trustful spotters who don't want you to break your neck.
Good Luck
