Double Elbow Back Shot - Wushu Rope Dart

This video shows how to do a double elbow back shot with a wushu rope dart. First shoot the rope dart to the right and when the dart swings back, let it pass behind your back. When it swings up at the other side, put your left elbow under the rope. Then let the dart swing back to the right side, put your right elbow under the rope, twine it twice around your elbow and do an elbow back shot. ( see elbow shot video )

Elbow Jump Shot - Wushu Rope Dart

This video shows how to do a elbow jump shot with a wushu rope dart. This is basically the same as the normal elbow shot, only that you run forward while you wind the rope up on your elbow. Do 3 steps, jump from the right leg and shoot the dart straight back. This video actually just shows a hop from the left leg, but you should swing the left leg forward up and jump off from the right leg ( a bit like a tong bi jump ). Shoot the dart in the air and pull it back when you land.

Handling a Wushu Rope Dart

This video shows how to handle a rope dart. Actually the video just shows how to hold the rope. Wind one end around your left hand and hold a part of the rope in your right hand. Traditionally the back of the right hand should point up, but some practitioners also hold the rope with the back hand pointing down. The right hand drives the dart while the left hand adjusts the length of the rope. When you shoot the dart, the rope should slide through the right hand. Make sure you use a rope that doesn't burn your fingers when it slides through your hand. The rope should be between 4 and 5 meters long and the dart should be 200 to 400 g heavy. At the beginning you can attach something soft to the end of the rope ( for example a tennis ball ) so that you can't injure yourself when you try new skills. Whenever you need to change the length of the rope, let the rope fall out of your left hand or wind it back up circling the left hand.

Heel Back Shot - Wushu Rope Dart

This video shows how to do a heel back shot with a wushu rope dart. The heel back shot is a technique where you swing the dart sideways onto your foot ( side kick position ), wind the rope around your heel and shoot the dart backwards ( towards the standing leg ). There isn't much to say about this move, but unfortunately it requires a lot of timing. The heel back shot is technically similar to the foot bounce shot.
