In this video lesson you will learn how to do a sanda fighting stance. Performed by Li Xin from the Sanda - 1 - Competition Team of the Song Jiang Wushu School.
Stand on the balls of your feet and bend your knees slightly. The distance between the feet is a bit more than one shoulder with. Keep the weight 50 percent on the back leg and 50 percent on the front leg. Don't lean forward, don't lean back. Don't bend your knees to one side. Stand centered. Round your back slightly and keep your abs contrated a little. Keep your shoulders relaxed and let your elbows hang. Don't lift your elbows because if you do, your opponent could kick you in the ribs. The back hand stays close to the chin and the shoulder protects the other side of your head. However, keep in mind that you should not lift you shouders too much. ( keep shoulders relaxed ) Bend your head down a little bit, but keep looking straight forward at the same time. ( actually stare straight forward ) The elbows are bent about 90 degrees and the fists are closed. Fists close but not cramped. ( if you cramp your fists, your punches will became slow and stiff.
